$2.2 million signalization project kicks off in Niles

NILES — A $2.2 million project aiming to improve the quality of life for motorists and pedestrians on the city’s central road in its downtown area is underway, but isn’t expected to affect local businesses, says Mayor Steve Mientkiewicz. Falls man arrested following standoff

NEWTON FALLS — Newton Falls police have arrested a man in connection with a domestic violence incident and standoff at the Newton Village Apartments that began just before 10 p.m. Tuesday. Police Chief John Barco said the Trumbull County 911 Center received a third-party text message from an individual concerned for the safety of a friend who was reportedly involved in a domestic disturbance with her boyfriend Tuesday at the Newton Village Apartments, 609 Ridge Road. Judge Kovoor sentences three in separate cases

WARREN — Three men were sentenced Tuesday on a variety of charges by Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Sarah Kovoor. They include: • Ryan W. Francis, 32, of state Route 45, Bristolville, who received a two-year prison sentence after admitting to a probation violation for his felony conviction of a failure to comply with order or signal of police officer. LaBrae officials will dedicate new band shell

LEAVITTSBURG — LaBrae Local School District officials will host a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:45 p.m. Monday for the new band shell. The ribbon cutting will begin at Viking Stadium on the school campus, immediately preceding the annual LaBrae Band Night, which is Trumbull County’s inaugural show for this year’s band night series. Warren Fire Department promotes two

WARREN — A swearing-in ceremony took place Wednesday at the city municipal building for a newly appointed captain and lieutenant in the Warren Fire Department. Jeremy Rogers was promoted to captain and Kevin Hunt was promoted to lieutenant, with both new roles effective Friday. Rogers was previously a fire lieutenant and Hunt a fireman.
