ATM stolen from Johnston store

JOHNSTON — The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of an ATM from Quinn’s Mini Mart early Tuesday. A spokeswoman at the store said the ATM was the only item taken, but there was some vandalism and damage inside the store and to the glass of the front door caused by someone who smashed in the door to get inside to steal the ATM. The spokeswoman said the damage has been repaired and the store is open. Gas line struck on Route 46 in Bazetta

BAZETTA — Fire and gas company crews were out Wednesday afternoon along a section of state Route 46 in the township after a gas line was hit and was spewing gas. The Bazetta Fire Department posted on its website that Route 46 between McCleary-Jacoby and Cadwallader Sonk roads was closed for a few hours. A spokesman for the fire department said two businesses and about a dozen homes in the area of state Route 46 and Westview Drive were evacuated as a safety precaution. Girard officials address trash collection concerns

GIRARD — City officials voiced concerns regarding trash collection with representatives of Republic Services at the city council meeting Monday. Councilman Thomas Grumley, D-4th Ward, said he was concerned with the quality of the service, particularly in the past few months. He said he doesn’t ever remember a time when there has been such a neglect of trash collection on city streets.
