Weathersfield seeks applicants to fill board seat

WEATHERSFIELD — The Board of Education is seeking applicants to complete the remaining term of board member Tim Gleason, who died June 11. Gleason was first elected to the board of education in 2013, beginning his term in January 2014. During his 12-year tenure, he served as president and vice president; acted as liaison between the district and Weathersfield Township; and represented the district with the Ohio School Boards Association. Lordstown income tax down $1.76M so far

LORDSTOWN — Village Solicitor William Blank informed officials Monday that income tax collections are down $1.76 million this year compared to the same time last year. Blank said the amount covers the first five months of the year. He said contributing to the decrease are the layoffs at Ultium Cells. WARREN — Not only will Michael Philip Walton not be an independent candidate for the 64th Ohio House District seat, but the Trumbull County Board of Elections forwarded his nominating petitions to the state’s Public Integrity Division to investigate for potential election fraud. Gov. Mike DeWine said he opposes the death penalty as it is not a deterrent against violent crimes, but he faces an uphill battle to convince the state Legislature to either abolish it or put it in front of voters to decide its fate.
