WHAT: City Council meeting Monday
PRESENT: John Picuri, Alli McGregor, Chelsea Munroe, Kevin Piros, Scott Rowley, Kris Vadas and Chris Wadley
Council:
• Approved a resolution supporting relocation of the Trumbull County 911 dispatch center to the Trumbull County Combined Health District building in downtown Cortland. Council President John Picuri said the move would maximize use of a county-owned building, provide a positive return for taxpayers, and support downtown revitalization and economic development.
• Approved final reading of legislation renewing the fire department’s contract with ESO Solutions for fire and EMS reporting software.
• Approved final reading of legislation allowing Mayor Jim Bradley to enter into an agreement with Site Prep Services LLC for construction of the outdoor event space at 181 W. Main St.
• Approved the purchase of a Ford Police Interceptor SUV and patrol equipment from Statewide Ford Lincoln Mercury as an emergency measure. Police Chief Dave Morris said the city was already behind in ordering the vehicle, and the vendor agreed to honor a recently expired quote. The total cost of the cruiser and equipment will not exceed $68,000.
• Approved emergency legislation appointing Todd Price as interim assistant fire chief. Fire Chief David Rea, who is retiring June 23, reported two candidates were certified to the firefighter eligibility list and that Brooklyn Youngblood and Derek Sanders completed paramedic training.
• Heard a report from the police chief that the department was tentatively awarded a grant of more than $18,000 from the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services for a computer server, pending federal funding approval.
• Heard a report from the mayor, who reported that curbside brush pickup will begin June 22.
