McDonald receives grant for music program

McDONALD — The McDonald music program has received a significant financial boost following the awarding of more than $10,000 in grants from the GPD Foundation, supporting both Roosevelt and high school music education.

The funding already has been used to enhance classroom instruction and student performance opportunities across grade levels.

Roosevelt music students are now utilizing nine newly purchased Orff mallet instruments, along with updated instrument stands. Students have been actively engaging with the new materials, which are designed to strengthen foundational skills in rhythm, melody, and ensemble performance.

At the high school level, the band program has also benefited from the grant. Additions include a new marimba, updated snare stands, and new percussion mallets. These upgrades are intended to improve the quality of the percussion section and expand opportunities for student musicians to perform on higher-quality instruments.

Starting at $3.23/week.
