VERNON — Township trustees this week named a new fiscal officer and a trustee.

Barbara Peterson replaces Darlene Emrick as fiscal officer and Jeff McGee will take over for Ron Emrick as a trustee.

Trustee Michael Lindus said the two new officials will begin work in January and be sworn in at an organizational meeting.

Peterson, who has a background in finance, and McGee will both have to run in the next general election to continue serving in the seats.

Darlene Emrick served since 2012 as fiscal officer and did not run the seat in 2023. Ron Emrick had been appointed to fill an opening on the trustee board. Both will finish their terms Dec. 31.
