Warren man accused of firing shots held without bond

WARREN — A judge ordered a Warren man accused of firing shots at men on Monday to be held without bond.

Jveeti Street, 41, pleaded not guilty to two charges of felonious assault in front of Warren Municipal Court Judge Natasha Natale Tuesday morning.

According to a police report, an officer was called to the area of Woodview Circle and Cranwood Drive for shots being fired. Officers were told that a black man wearing red shorts and a hoodie was seen walking the sidewalks and fired two shots at the caller, then ran back into his residence.

An officer found the caller and began looking for the suspect, later identified as Street, but drove back and spoke to the caller, who said he had backed out of his driveway and saw Street walking down the street while his nephew was taking something out to the garbage can.

The caller told the officer he saw Street walk onto the south side sidewalk of Cranberry and walk across to its north side, pulling out a handgun and aiming it in his direction and firing a shot, according to the report.

The report states Street ran toward him and fired again, running into his Cranwood residence.

Officers set up a perimeter around Street’s residence, calling a sergeant to bring a ballistic shield, and it was determined that officers would use the PA system to call Street out of the residence.

The report states Street walked out and was taken into custody after several announcements, and he was heard yelling that he was defending his property, and the firearm was in the attic, as officers made their way into his house to clear the residence.

A chrome colored revolver was found on the attic stairs, and the officer found two spent casings and four live rounds. He placed the firearm on the kitchen counter. Officers also collected a projectile that was found in the road near Cranwood and Woodview’s street signs.

Street was denied bail because of the “substantial risk of physical harm to any person and the community,” according to court records, which add that no release conditions would reasonably ensure the safety of persons or the community.

Street is set to appear back in court June 9, court records show.

Starting at $3.23/week.
