Couple indicted after child attacked by dog

WARREN — A Braceville couple was indicted Thursday by a Trumbull County grand jury after township police said their 2-year-old was attacked by a dangerous dog.

Jonah Fisher, 25, and Destany M. Myers, 26, both of Westgate Drive were each charged with a third-degree felony of child endangering.

Fisher will be arraigned June 11 by Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Andrew D. Logan and on the following day, Myers’ arraignment is scheduled before Judge Cynthia Rice.

According to the police report, the incident occurred March 29, when the couple is accused of leaving their child alone with a known dangerous dog that previously had been quarantined for biting someone.

The report states the dog’s attack on the child caused serious injuries that required emergency medical attention. Police also say the home had unsanitary living conditions that posed a health hazard.

The two were arraigned April 4 in Newton Falls Municipal Court. Both pleaded not guilty and their bonds set at $2,500 each. Specific conditions of bond prohibited contact with the child except through Child Protective Services and banned their use or possession of intoxicants.

The pair waived their separate preliminary hearings April 9, sending both cases to the grand jury.
