Vienna motorcyclist dies in Hubbard Township crash

Staff report

HUBBARD — A 63-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Route 62 and Franklin Avenue SE in Hubbard Township on Wednesday, authorities said.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Warren Post responded to the crash at 1:13 p.m.

According to investigators, Russell Davis of Vienna was riding a 2020 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy eastbound on U.S. 62 when a 2015 Toyota Scion xB, driven by 76-year-old Virginia Dickey of North Haledon, New Jersey, failed to yield at a stop sign while traveling southbound on Franklin Avenue SE. Dickey’s vehicle crossed the intersection and collided with Davis.

Davis, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported by Hubbard Fire and EMS to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Dickey was not injured in the crash.

The Hubbard Township Police Department, Hubbard Fire and EMS Department, May’s Towing and Triple M Towing Services assisted at the scene.

Authorities are urging drivers to remain vigilant for motorcyclists, especially with favorable weather conditions expected.

“Take your time to look for riders,” the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a statement. “It could be your loved one you don’t see.”

The crash remains under investigation.
