Internet provider building network in area

WARREN — Trumbull County households could witness an improvement in internet speeds due to an out-of-state telecommunications company’s plans for expansion.

A recent press release from Brightspeed, of Charlotte, North Carolina, stated that when the company’s construction is finished, more than 33,000 residents will have access to the “most future-proof” network available.

“Brightspeed Fiber Internet is already available for more than 17,000 potential Trumbull County customers,” the release continued.

Bright-speed recognizes itself as the nation’s fourth largest fiber broadband builder focused on empowering more homes with ultrafast, reliable internet.

As of Friday, Brightspeed explained, crews are working to connect another 2,600 local homes and businesses in communities like Warren, Howland Center, Champion Heights and Warren’s Oak Knoll neighborhood.

“Neighbors have likely seen Brightspeed trucks and team members in their neighborhoods working to bring families and businesses online,” the release explained. “The highest priority is working quickly and efficiently within local communities, keeping safety at the forefront.”

Brightspeed Fiber Internet leverages the latest 10-Gigabit Symmetric Passive Optical Network technology to bring boosted gig-speed capabilities and consistent responsiveness that will enable multi-device households to connect, work, study, stream, communicate, and game efficiently and reliably in Warren and it’s surrounding areas, the company further wrote.

“Put simply, high-speed internet equals opportunity for households and businesses alike, and access to fast, reliable, and affordable internet and Wi-Fi will help close the rural-urban digital divide.

“That’s why Brightspeed is building its smart, fiber optics-based network in communities like Warren — so residents and business owners have the reliable connectivity they need to work, learn, play, and thrive.”

The release concluded in stating that Brightspeed is already investing $2 billion in developing next-generation fiber-optic technology to build a more reliable, superfast broadband internet network that will reach more than three million homes and businesses across 20 states. Additionally, Brightspeed is pursuing state and federal funding to augment its current fiber network build plan in Ohio to help close the digital divide across the state’s counties.
