1,500 county firms received $58M in coronavirus relief
More than 1,500 businesses in Trumbull County received financial aid of up to $150,000 through the federal Paycheck Protection Program to keep their employees working during the viral outbreak.
Those companies secured more than $58 million in loans, used to save nearly 10,000 jobs, according to data released by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The loans ranged from sole proprietors to well-known companies, the data shows, and businesses in the Warren area led the way with 739 loans approved worth about $27.4 million, saving 4,332 jobs.
The three companies with the highest loans were:
• Buena Vista Cafe, Inc., 1305 Buena Vista Ave. NE, $149,319, 25 jobs;
• CDAM Inc., 8543 Squires Lane, $145,457, 23 jobs;
• Gilanyi Engineering and Manufacturing, 5400 Oak Hill Drive NW, $145,300, 16 jobs.
In the Niles area, more than 1,500 jobs were impacted by more than $7.1 million in loans givens to 175 businesses, the data shows. The top three loan amounts were:
• $137,300 to Three C’s Inc., DBA Coates Car Care Express, 59 Youngstown Warren Road, 46 jobs;
• $137,200 to Grace Fellowship Church of Warren, 325 Youngstown Warren Road, 11 jobs;
• $136,700 to 88 Mizu Japanese Restaurant Inc., 5555 Youngstown Warren Road, 20 jobs.
This was the second release of data by the SBA, which in July disclosed business names, addresses, ZIP codes, business type, demographic data, nonprofit information, name of lender, jobs supported and loan amounts for companies that received loans between $150,000 and $10 million.
Also disclosed was less-detailed information on companies that received loans up to $150,000.
The latest release for the lesser loans, however, disclosed the same type of information as earlier this year for the higher loans. Also, the earlier release for the greater loans were in ranges: $150,000 to $350,000; $350,000 to $1 million; $1 million to $2 million; $2 million to $5 million; and $5 million to $10 million. This disclosure, though, released exact amounts for the higher amount loans.
The Tribune Chronicle reviewed the data dumped by the federal government for Ohio, searching for local companies by community listed in the company’s mailing address.
That review also revealed companies in all corners of Trumbull County received some sort of help.
