Wed. 4:55 p.m. One of Raymond Fifes killers dies in prison

GRAFTON — Timothy Combs, one of the men convicted in the September 1985 slaying of 12-year-old Raymond Fife, has died in prison, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections.

Combs, 50, died at the Grafton Correctional Institute on Friday. A cause of death has not been released.

Combs was 17 when Fife was beaten, sexually tortured, strangled with his underwear, set afire and left for dead. Combs and Danny Lee Hill, who was 18 at the time, attacked Raymond while he was riding his bike to a Boy Scout meeting.

Hill is on death row, but has appealed the sentence based on his intellectual disability. Combs was not eligible for the death penalty because he was a juvenile.
