ROTARY CHRISTMAS CONTEST: The Niles Rotary Club is hosting the Great Holiday Light Fight, where people can nominate a Niles residence for the Christmas decorating contest. Entries are open until Dec. 15, with the winner to be announced Dec. 18. Prizes will be awarded to the top three entries. A list of displays that receive an honorable mention will be published. Howland library plans holiday party
HAPPY HOWLAND HOLIDAY: The Howland Library Branch, 9095 E. Market St., will host a “Happy Howland Holiday” 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The event will include festive musical performances by members of the Howland schools chamber choir under the direction of Mark Semrau. Santa Claus will arrive at 7 p.m. Children can make crafts throughout the evening. The Friends of the Howland Library will provide refreshments. NILES TREE LIGHTING: The Niles Lions Club will host the annual Christmas tree lighting 6:30 p.m. today at the safety service complex.
