Howland library plans holiday party

HAPPY HOWLAND HOLIDAY: The Howland Library Branch, 9095 E. Market St., will host a “Happy Howland Holiday” 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The event will include festive musical performances by members of the Howland schools chamber choir under the direction of Mark Semrau. Santa Claus will arrive at 7 p.m. Children can make crafts throughout the evening. The Friends of the Howland Library will provide refreshments.
CHRISTMAS TOY COLLECTION: The Warren Family Mission is collecting toys for the Christmas distribution. The mission is looking for new, unwrapped Christmas toys or bikes for boys and girls ages up to 18. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 9. Drop off donations at 155 Tod Ave. NW, Warren. LAWN MOWER WINTERIZATION: The Girard FIRST Robotics Aptiv Team will sponsor a lawn mower winterization 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Girard High School rear parking lot, 1244 Shannon Road. The team will clean, power wash, change oil and sharpen and balance blades for $55. Pick up and delivery is $70 for Girard residents only. For questions or pickup, call Ashraf at 330-545-5431. SNOWMAN PAINT AND SIP: The Medici Museum of Art, 9350 E. Market St., Warren, will host a Snowman Paint and Sip 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Those participating can wear their ugly sweaters as they enjoy cocoa. Cost is $20 adults and $12 per child. All supplies will be provided.
WOMEN’S CONNECTION: The Warren’s Women Connection, a spiritual group on a mission to help women find the path to their higher power, will have their next meeting, “Fun while Helping,” at 11:30 a.m. Monday at DiLucia’s Banquet Center, 2610 Elm Road NE, Warren. WWC is affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries. The cost for first time attendees is $15, regular attendees pay $20.
Inspirational speaker for December is Connie Rhodebeck, the regional representative from Stonecroft. The group’s project is to “Help Stonecroft Around the World.”
Bring extra cash besides your donation(s) of new or gently used items, Christmas and winter decor, books, jewelry, clothes, craft items, tools, etc. Baked goods are always a favorite.

WALK WITH A DOC: Youngstown State University’s Bitonte College of Health and Human Services continues its commitment to public health through the Walk with a Doc program, a free community wellness initiative at the Southern Park Mall.
The program takes place 10 to 11 a.m. on the first Thursday of each month and is led by YSU physical therapy faculty and students. Each session begins with a brief health talk before participants join in a walk around the mall. The events are designed to promote fitness, wellness and preventive care in a fun and social environment. This Thursday’s program is Cold Weather Preparation
Walk with a Doc is part of an international nonprofit founded in 2005 to encourage healthier lifestyles through movement and conversation with medical professionals. The walks are free and open to the public. All ages and fitness levels are welcome, and no registration is required.
