Fourth of July weekend events in Valley

A variety of events are taking place throughout the Mahoning Valley to celebrate Independence Day and the nation’s 250th birthday. FRIDAY CANFIELD — A fireworks show at 9:45 p.m. at the Canfield Fairgrounds. Gates open at 5 p.m. with live entertainment, concessions and activities for children. Peace Pole dedication set

PEACE POLE DEDICATION: The Howland Rotary Club will have a peace pole dedication ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday at Orwig Park off East Market Street by Howland High School. The peace pole serves as a symbol of hope and goodwill carrying the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth.” The celebration will be 5 to 8 p.m. and include food trucks and live music. Flagpole dedication planned on Saturday

MESPO CELEBRATION: The Mesopotamia Township trustees will host a dedication ceremony at 6 p.m. Saturday across from the End of the Commons General Store in Mesopotamia for the new 50-foot flagpole.
