CHILI COOK-OFF: The Vienna Community Action Committee’s final Columbus Day chili cook-off, which has taken place for 21 years, will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Vienna Fire Department, 33 Youngstown Kingsville Road. Plans for 2026 are to have an all-new, larger chili cookoff on a Saturday. Monday’s event will include chili, homemade desserts, 50 / 50 drawing and basket raffle.

All proceeds benefit the committee, a legal nonprofit dedicated to building a community garden, hosting year-round holiday events, running The 1805 Closet (monthly clothing drive) and supporting beautification projects across the township.

CHRISTIANS IN ACTION: The Hubbard Christians in Action is hosting a monetary donation and food drive at Burlew’s Fresh Market, formerly known as Devine’s Shop’n Save, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. “Bagging for a Donation” will help fund the group’s community food pantry, located in the basement of the First Baptist Church on Orchard Avenue as well as its utility and emergency assistance funds. There will also be Hubbard’s Hunger Hike at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Hall Ave. The hike is a 4-mile route to help recognize people in underdeveloped countries. There is also a 1-mile route for people with young children, medical needs and mobility issues. For the hunger hike, call 330-507-4239.

FALL FESTIVAL: St. Pope John XXIII Parish Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish campus, Robbins Avenue, Niles, will present a fall festival 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 18 and pizza sale 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 to 10 p.m. Orders will only be accepted for the 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. time frame and can be made by calling 330-652-2811. Red pizza is $10, while spinach, potato and combos will be $12. The deadline to place an order is 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The church also will be offering summer festival favorites such as cheese puffs along with sausage and pepper sandwiches. There will be a craft and art show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Youngstown’s Total Package Band will perform from 6 to 10 p.m. under the tent with beer and wine coolers.

APPLE BUTTER FESTIVAL: The Century Village Museum, 14653 East Park St., Burton, will present its apple butter festival and ox roast from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The public can help stir the apple butter. The event will include a balloon artist, bounce houses, barrel train rides, cornhole, apple peeling, crafts, pumpkin carving, crafters, vendors and entertainers. For information, call 440-834-1492.
