Seeing Eye: ‘First Wednesday’ planned at Upton House
FIRST WEDNESDAY: The Upton Association’s “First Wednesday” series will resume for autumn at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Harriet Taylor Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave., Warren, with a program on “Dining with the Presidents, Presidential China, & White House State Dinners” presented by Janet Weir Creighton. It is a behind-the-scenes peek at presidential legacies and how state dinners are staged. Creighton worked in the White House for President George W. Bush and attended a state dinner.

BOOK DONATIONS: The Friends of the Mckinley Memorial Library in Niles will have a book sale donation dropoff 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the McKInley Birthplace Museum.
SOCIETY TO MEET: The Vienna Historical Society will host its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Copper Penny Lodge, Vienna Center. There will be a program about Geauga Lake.
RUMMAGE SALE: Grace Methodist Church, 1725 Drexel Ave. NW, Warren, is hosting a fall rummage sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday to benefit the church food pantry’s monthly distribution.
KIDS CLUB: McKinley Memorial Library will present Kids Club: Leaf Rubbing 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. Children ages 5 to 11 are invited to enjoy a fun activity related to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). This week, students will use simple tools to make a colorful copy of a leaf, then label the different parts and learn how they work. Registration is required at 330-652-1704, Ext. 4.
CRAFT SHOW: First Baptist Church in Girard will host a fall craft show 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be food and a basket raffle. Admission is free. For information, call Sylvia at 330-540-9330,
PURSE BINGO: The St. Rose Mount Carmel Society will host a purse bingo at 5 p.m. Saturday at the school gymnasium, 48 Main St, Girard. Tickets are $25 at the door or purchased at the St. Rose rectory. There will be 10 bingo games, a lottery tree, a basket raffle and 50-50 raffle.
BLOOD DRIVE: The American Red Cross, Trumbull County, will host a blood drive noon to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Brookfield Fire Department on state Route 7.
COIN CLUB TO MEET: The Wheatland Mercer County Coin Club will host its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Wheatland Community Center, 71 Broadway Ave., Wheatland.
All are invited, and there will be light food and beverages. Monthly meetings include a special raffle, main raffle, coin auction, door prizes, birthday prizes and much more.
The special raffle this month is an 1859-O Seated Silver Dollar. Every member will be awarded one free coin and may participate in the raffles.
