School choice stories missed the mark

DEAR EDITOR: Two recent articles in The Vindicator reinforce the “us vs them” mentality between public and private schools when it comes to school funding, and in doing so miss an opportunity to elevate the discourse on education in our state. Public schools in Ohio receive money from both state and local governments. Local money goes to the local public district, but a portion of the state funding follows the student to whatever school they attend, whether public via an open enrollment option or private. In funding EdChoice, the state Legislature did not just divide the line ...

Founding Fathers would be horrified, sad

DEAR EDITOR: As a Republican and a Christian, how sad it is to see so many of our leaders turn their backs on the Constitution, to simply rubber stamp things that a man who literally created a picture of himself as king desires. The President and the members of Congress have all sworn an oath almost identical in this wording, “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic…” And unelected Elon Musk has not sworn this oath. Our Founding Fathers would be saddened and horrified to see ...

Sound off! Readers share their thoughts

Can the Warren Tribune PLEASE refrain from only having like-minded Republican cartoons? It’s disgusting that a newspaper is so far Republican it won’t report the news. Yes, Democrats make mistakes. But I for one would love to see an editorial cartoon prolifically portray the actual Neanderthals that our government has become instead of bowing down to their level. I’ve read you my whole 58 years old life. You make me sad. In fact, I doubt this will make it into print. Freedom of the press, my [expletive]. — Newton Township When reading the Sound Offs before the election, ...

Sound off!

It was hard to find Democratic beliefs or platform during the 2024 election, because their word-salad candidate had no clue. But now their beliefs are clear. Oppose cost cutting in a country with a $36 trillion debt. Oppose controlled immigration. Continue spending billions in a war that Ukraine will lose. Support Hamas plants on college campuses. Continue wild spending to buy votes. Appease rather than be strong. Support fringe beliefs rather than normalcy. Support trans surgeries on children. And their mid-term candidates? Losers! Vote against ALL Democrats! — Warren Trumbull ...

Dems remind us they stand for nothing

DEAR EDITOR: President Donald Trump’s address to the Joint Session of Congress on March 4 once again revealed the true colors of the National Democratic Party. Refusing to positively acknowledge or stand for today’s national issues such as securing our border, ending waste, fraud and abuse, a young boy fighting cancer, honoring Laken Riley’s life, banning men from women’s sports, and much, much more, epitomized what the Democratic Party has become under the Obama and Biden (Obama 2.0) administrations. They didn’t stand for this good, but took a knee in the Capitol for a ...

We won’t need EV charging stations

DEAR EDITOR: In the March 1 Weekend Edition you asked us to promote the installation of government-funded charging stations for EVs. This is nonsense. Only politicians would be dumb enough to propose this. Any truck driver knows better than that. All over our country there are warehouses that have electric forklifts. Try telling a truck driver that he should have a seat in the waiting room while the forklift driver recharges his battery. The truck driver will tell you replace the #@!^ dead battery with one that is fully charged and load his truck. The solution is that ...
