Let’s bring back the Cleveland Indians

DEAR EDITOR: I feel the need to respond to the Tuesday editorial “charging” the fans to ignore the sage words of President Trump and ignore his call to give the “Tribe” back to Cleveland baseball fans. I had moved to Ohio back in 2020, and was proud to be a member of the “Tribe” supporting the Cleveland Indians. Much to my surprise, the management of the team changed the name shortly thereafter. Jan. 6 at the Capitol was indeed a riot

DEAR EDITOR: In a recent letter to the editor, a New Middletown writer asked, “What is a riot or a peaceful march?” The Jan. 6 attack on our Capitol was a riot. It is unforgivable and should be burned in our minds forever. Trump calls the rioters patriots because they did it at his urging. Once back in office, he immediately gave them all full pardons and any mention of Jan. 6 is being purged from government records. “We the people” paid for the repairs of the damage they did that day. We will continue to pay for Jan. 6 as the rioters, and their families, are now suing ...

We keep hearing that the U.S. needs illegal immigrants, mostly from Democrats, to do jobs like picking crops. Do you know who else said this? Slave owners! — Hubbard So, Insight and the Trumbull County Commissioners think that Trumbull Regional Hospital can re-open. Can they be serious? The hospital has been closed for months; physicians and nurses have left — either for greener pastures or other local jobs; most other personnel and support staff have gone elsewhere; equipment has been removed or has been unused for months. The military parade was Trump’s doing

DEAR EDITOR: A recent Sound Off writer from Hubbard admonished prior contributors who complained about the military parade for the 250th anniversary of the Army, which took place on the president’s birthday. “Hubbard” urged those contributors to “do your research” and then asserted, “... this parade was first being planned under the Biden administration.” Hubbard’s position mirrored what was apparently circulating on social media as a response to criticism of the parade’s costs and totalitarian appearance. Democrats, teachers unions loved vetoes

DEAR EDITOR: I knew the Democrats and school unions would have common cause with lame-duck DeWine vetoes. They start huffing and puffing after the vetoes. The school unions all across the nation continually want more and more and enjoy all the excesses of all the nonstop increases in property taxes. With the Democrats, there is no curtailing of property taxes and they will resist any reasonable plan to fund the schools other than a blank check. Why must politics ruin everything?

DEAR EDITOR: As a retired military man, I was very dismayed at all the No Kings demonstrations on June 14 (Flag Day). The celebration of the Army’s 250th birthday was initiated during the Biden administration. Whether they would have had a parade is unknown. It was a celebration for all the men and women who sacrificed years of family separations, careers and went to war to defend us from socialism and communism (which seems acceptable today) and defend our Constitution.
