DEAR EDITOR: When did Americans stop believing in the dream of a better country? DEAR EDITOR: As a proud Republican, a lifelong Ohioan and an active member of my local Chamber of Commerce, I was proud to see Congress pass the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. It was a major win for small business owners, working families and rural communities. But that win could be short-lived if Congress doesn’t act soon to renew critical health care tax credits set to expire at the end of this year. Trumbull County needs a fiscal hawk

DEAR EDITOR: Mark my words — the Trumbull County commissioners will tap into the Reserve Fund to balance the budget at the end of the year. Trumbull County needs a full-time budget director, a fiscal hawk, if you will, whose job is to study the numbers, rather than three commissioners who request updates from department heads seven months into the year. If not for the Reserve Fund, the commissioners would have had no choice but to implement a .25-5% sales tax increase, as discussed earlier in the year.
