Trump’s spending spree must be stopped soon

DEAR EDITOR: President Trump has taken over management of our country’s purse and has spent plenty on a wide variety of projects. Congress doesn’t care. Besides his Impulsive spending, Trump has failed to honor appropriations authorized by Congress that are due to be disbursed right now. His Big Beautiful Bill will eliminate Medicaid, but not until maybe Christmas 2026. That’s what was written into the bill when it passed. SNAP food cards will be cut. DEAR EDITOR: As one who served at the Pentagon during 9/11, I was proud to serve under the auspices that I was a defender of our homeland rather than being thought of as one who wages war. By issuing an executive order to rename the Department of Defense to the Department of War, it portrays us as a warmongering nation rather than one that is peace loving. DEAR EDITOR: I recall news reports of Recep Erdogan, the Turkish autocrat Donald Trump admires, jailing people who critiqued his haircut. Incredible!
