DEAR EDITOR: Division in the country, just because we disagree with an opponent’s way of thinking and this leads to murder (Charlie Kirk); what has this country come to? Lawmakers ignoring will of voters on pot

DEAR EDITOR: There was a voter passed issue (Issue 2) on the ballot back in 2023 that legalized the recreational use of marijuana in Ohio. Ever since then, Ohio lawmakers have sought to tweak the law to suit their own interests or their own personal views about marijuana. Breaking news: Commissioners Denny Malloy and Tony Bernard passed a resolution giving Palmer Energy and CCAO a blank check to pass on higher utility costs for electric and gas aggregation to county residents without a public notice — no public hearings, no competitive bidding. Ohio law requires as much; Malloy failed to disclose he is a committee member of CCAO and should have recused himself from voting. Malloy and Bernard must answer to their constituents. DEAR EDITOR: The state of Ohio found the resources (unclaimed funds) to give the Haslams $600 million (free) to help build a new stadium for the Browns, but could only cough up a few pennies to feed the hungry in Ohio. I believe this same resource should be used to supplement SNAP, seeing how this money is from the people of Ohio; however, this is what can be expected when you have a state led by Republicans.
