Jan. 6 at the Capitol was indeed a riot
DEAR EDITOR:
In a recent letter to the editor, a New Middletown writer asked, “What is a riot or a peaceful march?”
The Jan. 6 attack on our Capitol was a riot. It is unforgivable and should be burned in our minds forever.
Trump calls the rioters patriots because they did it at his urging. Once back in office, he immediately gave them all full pardons and any mention of Jan. 6 is being purged from government records.
“We the people” paid for the repairs of the damage they did that day. We will continue to pay for Jan. 6 as the rioters, and their families, are now suing the government, claiming unlawful prosecution. The first settlement was for $5 million. The Proud Boys are suing for $100 million, and you and I will be paying for it.
Martin Luther King Jr. led a peaceful march.
