Richard F. Gonnella 1943-2026

He was born Sept. 25, 1943, in Warren, the son of Carl and Martha E. Doty Gonnella.

A graduate of Niles McKinley High School, Richard worked many years for Republic Steel in production planning before retiring.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles.

Richard enjoyed watching TV. His favorite shows were “Seinfeld” and “Mama’s Family.” He enjoyed watching QVC and occasionally making a purchase. He was a fan of all Cleveland sports teams and Ohio State football. He enjoyed a cool glass of lemonade and his favorite snack, Swedish Fish.

Precious memories of Richard live on with his beloved wife, Sherry J. Randolph Gonnella, whom he married July 8, 1978; his son, Richard C. (Bridget) Gonnella of Howland; two sisters, Joanne Liptak of Niles and Laurene R. Gonnella of Howland; and his nieces and nephews, who adore him and think of him fondly.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his sister, Carol Lou Fanto.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the compassionate, dedicated staff at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland for the care and camaraderie provided to Richard and the family over the past several years.

There are no services or calling hours, per his request.
