Ronald W. Crytzer 1957-2026

CHAMPION — Ronald W. Crytzer, age 68, of Champion, went home to our savior on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026. While we mourn our loss, we find comfort in knowing that he has finally found perfect healing in the arms of the Lord.

He was born Nov. 30, 1957, in Youngstown, a son of David and Barbara Broome Crytzer, and was a lifelong resident of the area.

He was a 1975 graduate of Liberty High School.

Though he faced lifelong disabilities, he defined himself through hard work. He took pride in his work at Fairhaven Champion workshop over the last 20-plus years. One of his greatest accomplishments was living independently in his own apartment for 18 years.

He was a die-hard Cleveland sports fan. If he wasn’t watching the Guardians or the Cavs, he would have been watching the Browns. Always hoping.

Ron was a natural comedian who always had a quick, funny comeback for everything. Often, with sound effects. He always managed to smile, even through tough times. He enjoyed listening to music, fishing, and going out to eat. Oh, and coffee! How he loved a “cup of mud” as he would call it.

Ron proved that life is measured not by physical ease, but by the depth of one’s heart and the laughter shared with others. He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to see him smile.

He leaves behind two brothers, Alan Crytzer (companion Victoria Smith) of Indiana and Steven Crytzer (companion Becki Maynard) of Hermitage; and three sisters, Beverly Osti of North Carolina, Cheryl Fronk of Warren and Amy Lendak (companion Carl Patterson) of Howland. He also leaves behind many, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life, Karla.

Calling hours will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, at Lane Funeral Home, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St. Cortland, OH 44410, with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m.

He will be laid to rest in the Johnston Township Cemetery, alongside his parents.
