Perry J. Turner 1949-2026

NORTH BLOOMFIELD — Perry J. Turner, age 76, passed away at his home Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026.

He was born June 2, 1949, in McClelland, Arizona, the son of Arlie and Ruth Kidd Turner.

Perry married Virginia Williams Turner on June 24, 1969.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971 and retired from WCI Steel after 42 years of service.

Perry was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was a proud Dad, Papa and Gramps, who loved watching his grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed spending time and making memories with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Perry was a hunting and fishing legend. He loved writing, playing and listening to country music.

Perry was known as Pops and Coach to many. He coached youth boys and girls baseball, and softball. He also coached his sons in flag football when they were young. It is impossible to count the memories and the lives that Perry touched in his 76 years. But we know he enjoyed every minute!

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virgina Turner; daughter, Amy Turner; sons, Dale (Sarah) and Brian (Christy) Turner; brother, Oppie (Nancy) Turner; sister, Martha Holyfield; grandchildren, Michael, Austin, Ava and Bella Turner, Megan (Casey) Baker and Lexi (Tyler) Hodgkiss; great -grandchildren, Sophie and Leo Hodgkiss; sister-in-law, Nancie Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, Arlie and Ruth Turner; sisters, Marylene Vincent, Orla Jean Moring, Charlotte Hauer, Sarah Girard and infant sister, Jenny Rosalie Turner; and brother, Harrel Turner.

A funeral service, officiated by Mark Addison, will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main St., Orwell, OH 44076.

Burial will follow at Brownwood Cemetery, North Bloomfield.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, at the funeral home.
