Janet M. Barnett 1950-2025
CORTLAND — Janet M. “Minick” Barnett, 75, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Janet was born Jan. 30, 1950, in Jefferson, Pa., to Floyd and Martha Lingenfelter Minick.
On May 30, 1969, she was married to the late Dwight Barnett, a marriage that lasted for 52 wonderful years until he passed away Sept. 9, 2021.
Janet loved serving her God, Jehovah, and talking to others about her wonderful hope. She was a beloved member of the Cortland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Janet loved spending time with her family and friends, sitting on the porch, gardening, camping, fishing and watching birds. She worked as the head cook at Faber’s nursing home.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight M. Barnett; daughter, Julia Rose Barnett; brothers, Lee Minick and Dale Minick; and granddaughter, Autumn Rose Rudge.
Janet leaves behind her beloved children, Melissa (Michael) Artman, Melinda (Donald) Brobst, Dwight (Rachel) Barnett and Jody Barnett; her nine beloved grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Shirley (Ed) Dinger; and her brothers, Wayne (Tracie) Minick and Don (Norma) Minick.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at the Cortland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
