Dolores M. Morrel 1928-2025

CORTLAND — Dolores M. Morrel, 97, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, Sept. 26, 2025, at Shepherd of the Valley Rehabilitation Center, Howland, after a short stay.

Dolores was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Warren, the daughter of John and Orrilie Young Kihn.

She was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Warren G. Harding High School, Class of 1946. Dolores continued her education in cosmetology, learning through cutting hair for family and friends.

Besides her role as a wife and mother, Dolores worked as a medical assistant with Dr. Dominic in Cortland for 20 years, retiring April 3, 1986.

On June 14, 1975, Doroles married Delbert Morrel and shared a life of love raising their family until his passing on July 8, 2016.

She enjoyed shopping, playing cards, dancing and traveling.

Dolores was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Community Church in Leavittsburg.

Left to cherish Dolores’ memory are her five children, Susan (Frank) Hoke of Champion, Nancy (Tom) Raeburn of Rockwell, North Carolina, Joel (Sue) Flannery of Citronelle, Alabama, Michael (Donna) Morrel of Girard and Carrie (Charlet) Tutor of Kinsman. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, Michelle, Brenda, Melissa, Laurie, Scott, Michael, Justyn, Jenn, Jenny, Jared and Jordan; 16 great-grandchildren, Tory, Noah, Mikalya, Nathan, Zoe, Warren, Ty, Kellsey, Josie, Jocelyn, Gionni, Jordyn, Layla, Logan, Jasper and Jaron; and four great-great-grandchildren, Ravyn, Ava, Vayda and Lux.

She also leaves behind one brother, Jack (Peggy) Kihn of Miamisburg.

Besides her parents and husband, Dolores was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Kihn, and two sisters, Dorothy Quinlan and Daisy Peace.

Family and friends may call 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, where a funeral service will begin at 6 p.m.

The family requests no flowers due to family allergies.

Dolores will be laid to rest next to her husband in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Vienna.
