Alexander N. Elonen 1991-2025

Alex was born Jan. 16, 1991, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of David Elonen and Patricia Pachkoski Marburger. He moved to Ohio as a young child and was raised in Cortland, graduating in 2009 from Lakeview High School, where he played on the football team. Alex graduated from Ohio University with a degree in psychology in 2016.

He was employed as a manager for National General Insurance, and he loved his job and his co-workers.

Alex was an avid Detroit Lions fan, enjoyed working on his truck and motorcycle, and kept every friend he ever made.

On April 5, 2024, he married Kelsey Kraus, who survives him.

He also is survived by his father, David Elonen of Warren; his mother and stepfather, Patricia and Kevin Marburger of Cortland; sister, Mindy Gagliardi of Cortland; nieces, Rylei and Kennedy; many friends and neighbors; his two dogs, Nova and Sheba, who will miss their daily walks with him; and his cats, Barry and Oliver.

Family and friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 490 N. High St., Cortland, where Alex’s life will be celebrated.

The family requests that material tributes be made to the donor’s favorite animal charity.

Oak Meadow Cremation Services is handling the arrangements.
