Dr. Bharat Kelotra 1944-2025

ATLANTA, Ga. — Dr. Bharat Kelotra, a longtime resident of Warren, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Born in 1944 in India, Dr. Kelotra met his future wife, Tara, in medical school. They fell in love quickly and built a true love marriage, defying family customs. Their first daughter, Gunjan, was born in India.

In 1971, they moved to the United States with no friends or family but with great determination. Settling in Warren, Dr. Kelotra built a surgery practice and found community among fellow immigrants. Their daughters, Anjuli and Ritu, were later born and raised in this circle of love and support.

Dr. Kelotra was a thoughtful, intelligent man with the skilled hands of a surgeon and a lifelong thirst for knowledge. He adopted America as his home and loved it dearly. He never missed voting in an election. Progressive and open-minded, he shared his ideals with his daughters while learning from them, always supporting their education and life choices.

In 1997, he retired, took up golf, and enjoyed Florida life with his wife. His world changed after her passing in 2010, but soon after he joined all three daughters and their husbands in Atlanta, where he built a new home and centered his days around family.

He remained an avid reader, reading several books each week. He was known to be generous, helping settle many family members and friends in the U.S. and supporting their educational pursuits. He loved good food, travel and spending time with his five grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Gunjan (Rajiv), Anjuli (Charles) and Ritu (Jordan), and by his beloved grandchildren, Jai, Seema, Jyoti, Alok and Jaya.

A private service was held September 26 in Atlanta and a celebration of his life will take place on Oct. 5 in Atlanta.
