She married Kenneth Anderson in October 1985; he preceded her in death on May 19, 2011. Together, they enjoyed traveling in their motor home and taking their boat to many different lakes and favorite fishing spots and, as she loved the beach, to Florida, where they eventually retired, spending 20 years before returning to Ohio.
Bettie is survived by two sons, Larry and Kay Schmitt of Texas, and their two children, David and Sarah Schmitt and Jerry and Anita Schmitt of Lake Milton, with whom she made her home, and their two sons, Nicholas Schmitt and fiancee, Alexis Kelley, and Adam and Nichole Schmitt; stepdaughters, Jennifer Butler of Bazetta, Kim and Troy Robertson of Michigan and Leslie Anderson of Virginia; five stepgrandchildren, Hannah and Nate Butler and Michael, Tim and Joe Robertson; sister, Nancy Kowach of Howland; nephew, Chris and Maggie Kowach, also of Howland; niece, Michelle and Richard Rogers of Champion; numerous cousins and friends; and her beautiful little feline friend, Sophie.
