Howard L. Knight 1936-2025

SHEFFIELD, Ala. — Howard Leroy “Roy” Knight, 89, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at his home.

Roy was born May 20, 1936, in Mecca, to Howard and Bernice Baldwin Knight.

A man of faith, Roy was baptized Aug. 28, 1954, and was a member of the Sheffield congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Roy dedicated his retirement to teaching others about Jehovah and his future hope of resurrection and living forever on the earth in paradise.

Roy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha Jane Brady Knight; they were married Nov. 3, 1956, in Greene.

Roy retired after over 30 years of employment at General Motors Lordstown.

Roy took great pride in guiding his friends and family through his spiritual heritage heirlooms he kept within the house and loved to share his personal experiences.

When he was younger, Roy was a threat on the basketball court. In his later years, he enjoyed watching the Cavaliers, Browns and Guardians on TV.

He was a great grounds overseer, making sure the lawn looked its best every week.

In addition to his wife, Roy is survived by his daughters, Corinne (Jeffrey) Rogers, Amber (Mark) Bucholtz, Stephanie (Arthur) Adams and Sarah (Philip) Flanigan; grandchildren, Dustin (Nicole) Rogers, Adam (Eden) Bucholtz, Andrew (Melissa) Bucholtz, Lauren Bucholtz, Noah Bucholtz, Sophia (Manuel) Garcia, Hannah Ruple and Yesenia Adams; great-grandchildren, Evan Bucholtz, Carson Bucholtz, Oakleigh Bucholtz and Miles Garcia; sister, Ruth DiGiacobbe; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan DelVecchio; his parents; and his brothers, Karl, Harold, Ernest and Donald Knight.

An in-person memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1405 S. Tennessee St., Tuscumbia, Alabama.
