Genevieve Zidonis 1941-2025

MECCA — Genevieve Marilyn Zidonis, 83, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025.

Born Dec. 28, 1941, in Cleveland, Marilyn is the daughter of the late James Dittrich Jr. and the late Genevieve Czajkowski Dittrich.

She graduated from Chalker High School in 1959 and went on to live a life defined by service and creative talent.

Marilyn made a lasting impact on her community. She was instrumental in the successful effort to get a bridge built over state Route 11 in Mecca Township, an achievement that earned her the Citizen of the Year Award in 1973 and one that still benefits residents today.

Marilyn had a diverse career, working at Montgomery Ward, Sun TV and as a licensed Realtor. A gifted seamstress, Marilyn poured love into every stitch. She made a variety of clothing not only for her children and grandchildren but also for others in the community. Her talent and care were woven into every piece she sewed. Later in life, she, along with her daughter Paula, found a special way to combine her love of sewing and their heart for others through Survivor Scarfs, a business dedicated to creating handmade scarves for those on a journey through illness and recovery. With each scarf, they wrapped others in warmth, comfort and compassion.

Marilyn’s life was a rich tapestry of creativity and purpose. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her hands mended and created, but her heart is what made everything she touched truly beautiful.

She is survived by her daughters, Andrea (Randy) Partridge of Cortland, Janine (Bill) Horner of Cortland and Paula Zidonis of Southington; grandchildren, Lauren (Scott) Gibbs, Jarrett (Lynzie) Partridge, Brooke (Michael) Magyar and Taylor Horner; great-grandchildren, Belle, Maximus, Violet, Nora, Isla, Laylani and Ruby; siblings, Janice (Joe) Burns of Bowling Green, James (Jonette) Dittrich of Southington and Alexis Dittrich of Southington; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Zidonis, to whom she was married for 54 devoted years. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.

A private memorial service and interment will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you and heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Patriot Hospice, in recognition of its care and compassion shown during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to Patriot Hospice, 986 Tibbetts Wick Road, Girard, OH 44420, or Rock of Grace Family Ministries, where she was a member.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
