Evelyn E. Wlodarksi 1942-2025
BROOKFIELD — Evelyn E. Wlodarski, 83, passed away peacefully late Wednesday morning, July 9, 2025, at UPMC Passavant — McCandless, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Mrs. Wlodarski was born Feb. 24, 1942, in Sharon, Pa., a daughter of Evan Anton and Emma Dorothy Katkich Sulich. After graduating from Brookfield High School in 1960, she earned a bachelor’s degree in education in 1964 from Youngstown State University, where she later completed her master’s in special education in 1971.
Evelyn began her teaching career in the Brookfield school district and was quickly hired by Mathews Local Schools, Vienna. She taught at Mathews Jr. / Sr. High School for 35 years, before retiring in 1996. Evelyn later worked in the Brookfield Local Schools preschool for 15 years, retiring again in 2014. She was a member of the Ohio Education Association, National Education Association, Trumbull Education Association and the Retired Teachers Association.
Evelyn was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Sharon, where she belonged to the St. Theresa Altar Society and was a devoted volunteer at all church fundraisers and events.
She was an avid reader who also enjoyed gardening. Evelyn loved being a grandma, always supporting her grandchildren in their many passions and activities.
Her beloved husband of nearly 53 years, Bernard J. “Bernie” Wlodarski, whom she married June 13, 1964, preceded her in death, April 10, 2017.
Evelyn is survived by three sons, Donald Sherman (Misty) of Atlanta, Georgia, Bernard “BJ” Wlodarski Jr. (companion, Debbie Ott) of South Pymatuning Township and Chris Wlodarski of Masury; and five grandchildren, Nathan, Chase and Alexis Sherman, and Emma and Leah Wlodarski.
Eveyln was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be directed to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2025, at J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at St. Anthony Church, with the Rev. James Power as celebrant.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hermitage, Pa.
