Chester B. Marks 1968-2025

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Chester Benjamin Marks, born to Mr. Curtis and Elizabeth Thornton Marks on Oct. 22, 1968, departed this life on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
He served in the U.S. Army, was a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked as a security guard for PES Security Services. He also assisted the homeless and needy, working with the collection and distribution of food boxes from local churches.
Chester lived his life to the fullest! He was a fun-loving, caring and spontaneous soul who brought light and laughter everywhere he went. He loved cooking, traveling the world, singing, dancing and entertaining his family, friends and neighbors. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and The Ohio State University football teams. His warmth, energy and generous spirit will never be forgotten.
Chester is survived by two brothers and four sisters, Raymond Thornton of Warren, Jesse Thornton of Columbus, Marilyn (Marvis) Norman of Austintown, Regina Ellis of Columbus, Carol McKellar of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Monica (Jamar) Johnson of Tolleson, Arizona. He also leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, and an abundance of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal and maternal grandparents; one sister, Shirley Provitt; and two brothers, Curtis E. Thornton and Edward Clay.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at New Jerusalem Fellowship Church, with calling hours 10 to 11 a.m.
Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
