Ruth Lee 1924-2024
WARREN — Ruth Lee passed away at home, at the age of 100, Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024.
She was born in Johnstown, Pa., and moved to Warren when she was 13.
She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1942 and then worked for three years at the Packard Electric Company. There, she patriotically took on an extra duty of writing up war bonds. In 1945, she married the love of her life, Harley Lee and became a full time homemaker.
She loved nature, gardening, decorating for the holidays, traveling, gathering with family and friends, doing crafts, listening to music, antiquing and occasionally consuming a good margarita or a light beer. Her sweet and loving disposition prominently stood out for those who knew her as well as for strangers. She possessed a subtle, coyish sense of humor along with an uplifting smile that synchronized with a joyful gleam in her beautiful eyes. Her perseverance and determination were quite admirable.
Ruth was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, belonged to the Opal Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the American Conifer Society.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Harley; her parents, Michael and Gertrude; and her sister, Eileen.
She is survived by her son, Dennis; her grandchildren, Nathaniel and Brandon; and six great-grandchildren.
She was so grateful for the devoted attention of caretakers that allowed her to enjoy the comfort and contentment of living in her home during her later years. She often spoke of the close connections that were formed and the quality of support she received. A special thanks to Heather, Doris, Alexis, Holly, Cheryl, Amanda, Stacy and Debbie.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
