Julia Craig 1947-2023

LAKELAND, Fla. — Julia “Julie” Ventresco Craig, 76, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Lakeland Regional Hospital, Lakeland, Fla.

She was born Jan. 21, 1947, in Youngstown, the daughter of Perry and Blanche Santangelo Ventresco.

Julie graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School, Class of 1965. She then attended Youngstown State University for two years. She married Charles E. Craig Jr. on June 22, 1968, and settled in Howland. They shared 54 loving years together and raised their three children. They retired in Lakeland, Fla. She took great pride in being a wife and mother of three. When not running her household with exact precision, she enjoyed cooking, reading and attending water aerobics.

She was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Warren, and of St. Anthony Church, Lakeland, Fla. She enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat group, the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree women’s group, and was active with the St. Vincent de Paul Society for over 20 years. Julie took great joy in taking care of others and ran a successful daycare for many years.

In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded by a brother, Thomas; and her son, Edward “Eddy” Craig.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, Charles, are her daughter, Michelle (Anthony) Cerminaro of Andover, Maine; her son, Charles “Chip” (Desiree) Craig of Hughesville, Pa.; two grandchildren, Antoinette Cerminaro and Jayden Gentzyel; three brothers, Perry Ventresco of Struthers, Joseph (Linda) Ventresco, also of Struthers, and Jerry (Nancy) Ventresco of Austintown; sister-in-law, Mary (Steve) Held of Boardman; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Julia during memorial calling hours, from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren, OH 44483.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. Thomas Eiswerth and the Rev. Thomas McCarthy, presiding.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society of Blessed Sacrament, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren, OH 44483.
