Some Niles power customers at odds with utility bills

NILES — When Brandy Hunyady’s utility bills started arriving in the mail with numbers she could hardly believe, she got a power audit of her home and was told by her power provider not to pay the bill until they made sure it wasn’t a problem on their end, she said. Girard to remove gas well for planned auditorium

GIRARD — The Board of Education has approved capping and closing a gas well on the northwest section of the high school property off Shannon Road to accommodate a planned auditorium. Board President Mark Zuppo said Thursday the board entered into a contract with Enervest Operating LLC at $61,800 to cap and close the gas well. He said the work will be done this spring when school is not in session. Treasurer Mark Bello said the well has reached the end of its usefulness. Judge OKs plan for injection well restart

WEATHERSFIELD — American Water Management Services is preparing to resume operations at its injection well along state Route 169 following a judge’s approval of a plan that places conditions on the site. Steve Kilper with Avalon Holdings, the company that owns AWMS, said Feb. 22 the company was waiting for word on whether the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, which idled the well more than two years ago, will appeal or file a stay to Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Kimberly Cocroft’s Tuesday decision that allows the site to reopen.
