McDonald’s Rasile enhances game, brings back trophies

Zach Rasile won’t forget his trip to Italy. In some ways, those who saw the McDonald freshman guard won’t either. Rasile played for Team Ohio during April’s Junior International World Championships, helping his team win the U17 title with a squad comprised of three juniors, three sophomores, two freshmen and an eighth grader. McDonald is a team with a helter skelter, pressing style of defense, with an offense to match. He played the European style, which is a stark contrast with little or no one-on-one play. GIRARD — Continuing its efforts to have bridges in Trumbull County named to honor veterans, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11 asked Girard City Council to support renaming two bridges in the city. GIRARD — Hubbard resident Debbie Sackett said she was “more than thrilled” when her son, Ronald Sackett, took part in the 50-meter walk and softball throw May 13 at the eighth annual Special Olympics Area 11 track and field competition. Society plans for markers

WEATHERSFIELD — The Mineral Ridge Historical Society will place two Ohio Historical markers in the township this summer. Linda Ference, a society member, said the two markers, administered by the Ohio Historical Society, arrived last year and are set for installation and dedication. The Ohio Historical Markers program, which began in the 1950s, encompasses more than 1,500 unique markers that tell the state’s history as written by its communities.
