FORTUNA, Calif. (AP) — The remains of at least 117 dogs were found on the grounds of a California “no-kill” animal shelter, many of them with gunshot wounds, authorities said. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office said Friday that it also discovered 21 canine skulls, hundreds of bones and other remains during searches at Miranda’s Rescue Animal Sanctuary, a 50-acre facility in Fortuna, California. NILES — A late Saturday crash on North Main Street near the intersection of East Madison Avenue sent an adult and two juveniles to the hospital. A Niles police report states the crash happened just before midnight after a vehicle hit a utility pole while being driven south on North Main Street across from the Dunkin. The road was closed Sunday morning as work crews spent time fixing the damaged utility pole. Traffic was rerouted to nearby streets.
