Legislators introduce bill to help connect businesses with colleges

State Reps. David Thomas and Nick Santucci, who both represent Trumbull County in the Ohio House, introduced a bill they say will better connect businesses with colleges and universities by providing students with workforce training opportunities. The Joining Opportunities, Businesses and Schools (JOBS) Act includes certificate programs that align with in-demand workforce needs, the legislators said. Girard chief wants drug processing station

GIRARD — Police Chief John Freeman is seeking council’s support to use $27,000 in opioid settlement funds for a dedicated narcotics/evidence processing station at the police department. Freeman told city council Monday the police department does not have a dedicated station like other departments for officers to process narcotics safely. BRACEVILLE — A 25-year-old Leavittsburg man died in a two-vehicle accident on state Route 5 Friday night near the intersection of state Route 82 in what some people call the Center Of The World. Jim Tressel and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced Friday $14 million in grants to support the creation of workforce housing in 10 counties.
