HUBBARD — A city official said the joint cemetery’s board of trustees is going “back to the drawing board” after a proposed levy aimed at improving the grounds and their roads was rejected. City officials paused official business at last week’s council meeting to discuss placing a 0.5-mill levy on November’s ballot for the Hubbard Union Cemetery on Oakdale Avenue. Girard officials working to prioritize streets for paving

GIRARD — With up to $250,000 available for road projects, city council will determine which streets will be paved this year. Councilman Thomas Grumley, D-4th Ward, said at Monday’s council meeting that with a limited amount of funds and higher costs associated with road work, there may be only three to four streets paved. City Engineer Zachary Teter said the city is seeking Ohio Public Works Commission funds, with traffic counts to be done in August and September when the new school year starts because there will be more traffic on the roads. Johnson & Johnson agrees to $5.5 billion talc settlement

Johnson & Johnson has agreed to pay $5.5 billion to tie up remaining lawsuits that claim its talc products caused ovarian cancer. The drugmaker, which has been fighting talc-related lawsuits for more than a decade, said that the settlement is conditioned on at least 95% of remaining claimants participating. A U.S. bankruptcy court judge denied a $9 billion settlement proposed by company subsidiary Red River Talc last year that would have been one of the biggest mass tort settlements in history. Trumbull’s investment earnings nearly $750K more than ’25

WARREN — Trumbull County has earned nearly $750,000 more in interest so far this year than during the same period in 2025, Treasurer Agostino Ragozzino told the Trumbull County Commissioners during their quarterly investment advisory committee meeting Tuesday.
