CDC: 15 states linked to iceberg lettuce cyclospora outbreak

NEW YORK (AP) — Parasitic illness cases in 15 states have been linked to iceberg lettuce, U.S. health officials said Wednesday. Cyclospora cases have been reported in at least 47 states this year, and investigators have continued to probe how many could be linked to a common contaminated source. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the number of states tied to the deadly outbreak had grown from nine to 15. The Trumbull County Combined Health District confirmed two cases of measles in the county with the two people unvaccinated and the cases unrelated. During the infectious period, one person was at the Walmart on Goldie Road in Liberty on July 29 and at Akron Children’s Mahoning Valley emergency department on Market Street in Boardman on Aug. 2. Warren Fire Department promotes two

WARREN — A swearing-in ceremony took place Wednesday at the city municipal building for a newly appointed captain and lieutenant in the Warren Fire Department. Jeremy Rogers was promoted to captain and Kevin Hunt was promoted to lieutenant, with both new roles effective Friday. Rogers was previously a fire lieutenant and Hunt a fireman.
