WARREN — The operators of a West Market Street recycling center who both serve in the military lost about $1,000 in merchandise to thieves this week, but they said they will soldier on. Chief Operating Officer Noe Lugo and Clover Recycling owner Jenny Smith lost $1,000 in tools sometime Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, so they spent the night in the facility Wednesday night, waiting, in case the person or persons came back. AUSTINTOWN — The community gathered Thursday evening at Quaker Steak & Lube for Patriot Day, an annual celebration honoring military veterans and marking the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Area auto dealers hold steady in August sales report

Northern Ohio dealers in a 21-county area witnessed a 1.3-percentage point increase in August’s new car and truck sales compared to 2025 numbers, the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ reported last week. For the year, the region finds itself behind 3,000 units overall. NILES — Officials from the Ohio Department of Transportation visited Niles Middle School on Friday to tour the area around the school to see what improvements need to be made to its crosswalks, sidewalks and traffic signals. Home sales weaken as mortgage rates, home prices climb

Sales of previously occupied U.S. homes declined in August to their slowest annual pace in more than a year as home shoppers grappled with rising mortgage rates and home prices. Existing home sales fell 2% last month from July to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.98 million units, the National Association of Realtors said Thursday.
