MIDDLEFIELD — The Chardon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal plane crash that killed three people over the weekend near the Geauga County Airport. The crash occurred just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The patrol stated in a report that a preliminary investigation determined a Piper Comanche 250 crashed into a field, approximately 1 mile east of the Geauga County Airport. GIRARD — Fire Chief James Petruzzi wants something done to help the fire department recover costs for damages to hoses, ladders and other equipment and tools when out on emergency calls. Petruzzi told city officials at a recent council meeting that he wants to bill the insurance companies of where the calls were made to help cover the costs of damaged equipment. WARREN — William Peterson, 53, of Washington Street NE, Warren, was indicted on three counts of breaking and entering and two counts of grand theft, according to a list of indictments. Aaron Boden, 29, of North Road, Niles, was indicted on one count of breaking and entering. According to a police report, officers were dispatched to the area of Belmont Street NE and Olive Avenue NE May 2, after a neighbor reported seeing two men leaving a residence that sustained heavy fire damage in March. WEST FARMINGTON — Residents from 10 homes along South Park Drive in the village were evacuated for two hours on late Friday afternoon after a crude oil well ruptured. Fire Chief Jonathan Bland said there were no injuries and no one was reported sick after the 4 p.m. rupture. He said what caused the well to rupture is being investigated by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Oil and Gas.
