WARREN — A 10-year-old child was taken to the hospital Sunday with potentially serious injuries after he rode his bike through an intersection and was struck by a city firetruck. According to the crash report narrative, the firetruck was northbound on Nevada Avenue, entering the intersection of it and Union Street. At the same time, the boy was westbound on Union and traveled through the stop sign without stopping or slowing down — leading the firetruck to hit him and cause minor damage to both vehicles. Helen Hart Hurlbert, longtime publisher of The Tribune Chronicle and trailblazing American female media executive, will be inducted into the Youngstown Press Club Hall of Fame this fall. Hurlbert, known affectionately for decades as “The Boss Lady,” will be among eight 2026 HOF inductees at the press club’s Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner at 5 p.m. Sept. 23 at Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown. GIRARD — The city is the latest community in the Mahoning Valley wanting to place a moratorium on data centers, with city council giving second reading Monday to legislation putting a one-year moratorium in place. Final reading on the legislation is scheduled for the July 13 meeting, after which the moratorium will immediately take effect. CORTLAND — Members of the Cortland Lions Club have stepped up to make sure the community has its annual summer festival, with this year marking the 78th year for the three-day event. The festival is scheduled for 6 p.m. to midnight Thursday and Friday and 1 p.m. to midnight Saturday along Main Street.
