The Supreme Court of Ohio on Tuesday declined jurisdiction in the appeal of defendant Donteill M. Grant, 46, who is serving an 11- to 16.5-year sentence at Richland Correctional Institution for a high-level felony drug possession conviction. Grant, of Sharpsville, Pa., was convicted and sentenced before Trumbull County Judge Cynthia Westcott on Nov. 6, 2024, which was upheld by the 11th District Court of Appeals on Nov. 10, 2025. NILES — A Niles man who has been held without bond after being accused of holding a woman against her will is set to appear back in Niles Municipal Court Wednesday. Vincent Lin, 20, pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping and domestic violence during a Tuesday morning arraignment. He also faces charges of strangulation and felonious assault. GIRARD — Wanting to make use of the Girard Lakes property, city officials are considering adding a mountain bike trail to the area and plan to visit next month a similar trail at Lake Milton. Girard resident Tonya Carpenter, who works for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, told city council at their meeting Tuesday that she has spoken to Mayor Mark Zuppo about the proposed trail. LIBERTY — A Youngstown woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend is set to return to court June 17 on her charges. Takayla James, 24, faces charges of felonious assault and domestic violence in Girard Municipal Court.
