WEATHERSFIELD — The township has been awarded a $500,000 capital improvement grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for improvements at the township park. Trustee Chairman Steve Gerberry said the Ohio Legislature appropriated capital improvement funding through Senate Bill 450 for 2027 and 2028 to support community parks, recreation and conservation projects. WARREN — An incendiary device known as a molotov cocktail was thrown into an apartment at 444 Belmont Ave. NW near Mahoning Avenue and Summit Street early Saturday. When a police officer arrived for the 3:14 a.m. call, there was smoke coming from an open window in the unit of a multi-unit building. HOWLAND — The Howland Local School District’s resource officers are returning, but at a slightly cheaper cost to the district. Trustees at Wednesday’s meeting approved a pair of resource officer contracts with the district effective Sept. 8, 2026 through June 3, 2027. The contracts total $106,355, with one costing $75,899 and the other costing $30,455. Anthony Spinosa, the chorbishop of the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon in North Jackson, was charged with procuring, a first-degree misdemeanor, and public indecency, a second-degree misdemeanor, on Friday in Warren Municipal Court.
