SCOPE seniors seek new call on cash bingo policy

WARREN — Two Hubbard seniors requested the Trumbull County commissioners tell the leaders of the county’s SCOPE centers to reverse a recent decision eliminating cash prizes from bingo games at the centers. Ronda Brooks and Jean Cramer pleaded with the commissioners to use their influence with the leadership of the county’s eight SCOPE centers to allow the individual senior centers to determine whether they want to conduct their bingo games with cash prizes or by providing gifts. Newton officials pleased with Scott Street resolution

NEWTON TOWNSHIP — Township officials said they are satisfied with the action taken by New Falls village council to not require residents on Scott Street to annex into the village to receive sanitary sewer service. Trustee John Nemet said at their meeting Monday that the motion passed by village council will help the residents who are part of the sanitary sewer project in its second phase. Missing man found, facing breaking, entering charge

WARREN — Michael Stroup, 37, who is legally blind and reported missing by his family on Friday, was found early Monday in a factory across the street from where he was staying. He is charged with felony breaking and entering. A Warren police report from Monday states that an alarm company reported at 2:04 a.m. Monday an alarm drop at the Engineered Wire Products plant at 3121 W. Liberty board OKs new contract for superintendent

LIBERTY — Brian Knight’s leadership of Liberty Local Schools will continue into 2030 as the district’s board of education OK’d a new deal at its Monday meeting. The board approved a five-year, 260-day contract for Knight, effective Aug. 1, 2027, through July 31, 2032, at an annual salary of $111,970. The contract states that Knight will receive a raise of no less than 1.25% in years two and three of the deal, and a 1% increase in year four. Woman reports threat to her unborn child from ex

WARREN — A woman living on Lodwick Avenue Northwest reported Monday that she awoke Monday afternoon to her ex-girlfriend rubbing her stomach and saying she was going to kill the victim’s unborn child. The victim stated that she has been having issues since the suspect found out she is pregnant. She said the suspect had broken her front door an earlier time, which led her to replace the door. Woman seriously injured in Warren Township ATV crash

Staff report WARREN TOWNSHIP — The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Warren Post is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred about 1:56 p.m. Tuesday. The crash took place on Eighth Street. A green Kawasaki ATV, operated by Tina M. Young, 52, of Warren, was traveling west on Eighth Street. The ATV traveled off the right side of the road and struck a ditch.
