NOPEC to offer information for Newton gas aggregation ballot issue

NEWTON TOWNSHIP — With the township having placed a gas aggregation issue on the Nov. 3 general election ballot, officials are looking at having the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) provide public informational meetings and publicity on the issue at no cost to the township. Trustees placed the issue on the ballot to ask residents whether they should have the authority to aggregate retail natural gas customers in the township and enter into agreements for the sale and purchase of natural gas. FBI presence confirmed in Niles

NILES — A FBI spokesperson confirmed agency activity near Youngstown Warren Road on Wednesday. Published reports say the presence was at a medical park along the route that houses multiple medical facilities. The spokesperson said the FBI does not confirm nor deny the subject of any investigation or operation, but there is no threat to the public, and any arrest will eventually become public record if one is made.

County commissioners to vote on CAD system

WARREN — Trumbull County commissioners are expected to pass a resolution today that will provide $306,680 to contract with Sundance Systems Inc. of Valley View, Ohio, to replace the existing computer-aided dispatch system at the county’s 911 center.
